Youth Of May (2021) is a drama series that revolves around two young individuals who get caught up in the Gwangju Uprising that took place in May 1980. Hwang Hee Tae is a troublemaker who despises anything predictable. His life is described as a "battle against prejudice," and in order to break the prejudice against boys raised by single mothers, he achieves top scores and even gets accepted into the prestigious Seoul National University Medical School. He also plays the guitar and enjoys going to music cafes. However, due to unexpected events, he ultimately goes through the toughest months of his life.

Kim Myung Hee is a diligent nurse who has left her home and is currently living alone in Gwangju. Although she may not be friendly enough to comfort crying patients, she is smart and resourceful enough to immediately find the appropriate vein. She resembles more of a warrior than an angel, and unlike her beautiful appearance, she has a cold demeanor.

Lee Soo Ryun is Kim Myung Hee's best friend. She has a pleasant personality and seems quite stable with her beautiful looks. Coming from a wealthy family, she feels responsible for leading the way in ensuring justice in social matters.

Lee Soo Chan is Soo Ryun's older brother. He is assisting his father in the family business after returning from studying in France.
