Daisuke Higashida, a serious first-year student at Higashizaka School, leads a happy life despite having to live with a quirky family every day. However, one fateful day, his grandfather's company went bankrupt, leaving him with no allowance for daily expenses, phone bills, and even train fare. As a result, he had no choice but to find a part-time job at a nearby restaurant to avoid the exhausting 15-kilometer bike ride to school.
